Last Free Week of Summer!

Last weekend, we went camping at Hart Ranch. Dennis, Renae and their kids came up with us. We were able to play some badmittion, tennis, boche ball, and go swimming. We were going to climb Harney Peak, but Friday night Renae hurt her knee playing badmittion. So we just hung around the campground Saturday then. Saturday night, there was a huge rainstorm that went through. We all piled into Dennis and Renae's tent and waited out the rain. Then we were so wet and hungry, we just ended up going to town for supper. It was so fun to have the girls there to play with Malaya. Malaya is a few years younger - but they still played well together!

We had coed softball 2 nights this week. On Tuesday night, Frank-N-Beans (softball team's name - don't ask!) won both of their games. Their uniforms are hawaiian shirts. The team is made up of so many fun people - it is fun to even just watch them. A lot of the guys played on the Applebees team this summer together - so that helps too! Don't worry - I don't want to show up everyone with my athletic ability - so I don't play. I just keep book for them. :) Friday night, was a make-up game from another night. The other team didn't show up though - they didn't call or anything - so that was frusterating for Frank-N-Beans. Although, we did go back to Dennis and Renae's and had a team bbq instead!

The Central States Fair is also in Rapid this week - so that means demolition derby time. Mike and Brian have been officials at the derby for a few years now. They went Saturday afternoon and checked in cars - then they were officials during it. We were able to stay in the pits this yearing during it. Needless to say, we got some dirt in our faces and we were praying a car was going to go over the dirt wall - as we sat close to the area. We were hoping for a u-haul car that had a really good paint job - but he didn't win at all. Here is a link to some pictures from the Rapid City Journal. Brian is in pictures # 12 & 14 - Mike didn't make any pictures there! I have a video too. Of course, whenever I would video - nothing exciting would happen. But it gives you an idea how close we were to the cars.

My favorite car - it didn't do very well though -
but it looked pretty classy!

Today, we have worked to get a few things done around the house. I start inservice on Tuesday and kids will start next Monday. Tomorrow I am going to do absolutely nothing (or so I say)! It is 95 here today - so it's been pretty warm the last couple of days. Both our allergies have been horrible - is it bad to say I can't wait for the first freeze?!
